Why the site reads like a magazine
Most people who need a quantity surveyor have never used one before. The first contact is usually a search with a question in mind: is my older unit worth a depreciation schedule, how do I price a variation, what does the bank’s quantity surveyor actually check.
So this site is written like a magazine rather than a brochure. Each article answers one of those questions in plain terms, with the rules, the figures that matter and a real example, so you understand the issue before anyone asks you to buy anything.
When you have read enough to decide, the path is short. Every article ends with the service it relates to, and every service page lists the articles worth reading first. If you already know what you need, the price and the order form are one click away on every page.
Ran de Fonseka
Ran is a Certified Quantity Surveyor (CQS) and member of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, registered with the Tax Practitioners Board for capital allowances, with an MBA in finance.
His project work sits on the commercial side of construction contracts: administering NEC4 and Australian Standard contracts, negotiating subcontracts, pricing and assessing variations and delay claims, and managing cost on major infrastructure and renewable energy projects in New South Wales. That experience is behind the projects and contracts services on this site.
Since 2018 he has also prepared tax depreciation schedules for residential and commercial property investors, which is where the plain-terms articles began: the same questions kept coming up, and investors deserved straight answers before being sold a report.
Ran works from Sydney and serves clients Australia-wide. Every schedule and report is prepared by him, not outsourced.
How we work
Reports are prepared in-house, not outsourced, and inspected by photos and video with a site visit where needed.
